Where do I start?

FAQ#: WD20049

Question:
Where do I start?

Solution:
All My Sites is the starting point for learning about SiteBuilder and for creating a site. All My Sites is the first screen you see after starting SiteBuilder, and you can go to this screen by clicking the "All My Sites" icon in the toolbar.

Once you're in All My Sites, click "Guide for New Users" for a overview of SiteBuilder and the process of building a web site.

When you are ready to start creating your own web site, use the following steps.

1. In All My Sites, choose a type for the new site.

A type, or template, provides you with a web site made up of web-ready pages complete with content and pictures. You can edit the content, delete it, or add your own content as well as keep or replace the pictures. There are templates for a wide variety of web sites, such as business, vacation, photo albums, and e-zines.

2. Fill in the name of the home page name and select the pages you want included in your site.

You can also keep all the selected pages and later decide whether to keep them or add more.

3. Choose a design for your web site.

The design is both the look and color scheme of your site. The “look” includes different page layouts, such as one for the home page, one for a page with several pictures, and one for a page with both pictures and text.

Here are some guidelines to help you add and edit content:
  • Click an "Edit" button to change, delete, or reformat existing text.

  • Click an "Edit" button next to a picture to delete the picture or replace it with one of your own.
  • Note the icons on the toolbar. You use the toolbar to add text, pictures, Web Gems, links, etc. to your site. The toolbar is your menu for using SiteBuilder. The toolbar also provides quick help as you’re performing tasks such as adding or editing text and pictures.
  • Turn the Help on and off as needed, using the rightmost icon on the toolbar. Help provides you with information for the task at hand.
