Selecting, copying and pasting text.

FAQ#: WD20143

Question:
How can I copy text without typing each character?

Solution:
Copying and pasting text eliminates typographical errors and saves you time. This technique lets you add exact HTML to a Build Your Own =(web_gem_name) or the correct URL (web site address) into a browser's Address (or location) box.

To select, copy and paste text:

  1. Select the text by left-clicking the mouse at the start of the text and then dragging it to the end of the text.

  2. Or select an entire page's text by choosing Edit--Select All.
    The text highlights.
  3. Press the keys Ctrl and C or choose Edit--Copy.
The text is copied and saved temporarily to a clipboard in the computer.
  4. Place the cursor where you want to add the text.
  5. Press the keys Ctrl and V or choose Edit--Paste.
    The copied text is pasted.
